For first-time visitors to Changi Airport, several things immediately stand out about the airport’s soundscape. Plush carpets dampen the noise of luggage wheels and footsteps, eliminating much of the usual airport hubbub, creating room for other sonic elements to come through.
Here, Changi fills this space with a curated playlist of music. Like all other aspects of the Changi Experience, this has its own unique role to play to improve passenger experience. Careful thought continues to be put in to ensure that the music strengthens the sense of hospitality that the Changi Experience strives to deliver.

Curating the right playlist
After listening to a vast selection of different types of music, Changi’s Experience Creation team decided that a curated playlist of instrumental tracks was the most suitable. Warm and ever-changing, the selected songs resonated strongly with the Changi brand and served as fitting accompaniments for to the rest of the airport’s operations.
Throughout the day, passengers passing through Changi's terminals are greeted by music that is both vibrant and welcoming.

Variety is the spice of life, and this is no different for Changi’s music playlist. At any point in time, a block of songs remains on rotation, coming on at different times of the day. Furthermore, new songs are regularly phased in to replace older tracks, maintaining a fresh, ever-changing auditory experience for visitors.
Through regular curation of these playlists, the Experience Creation team strives to create a unique and memorable experience for all travellers.

As Shirley Tay, Senior Manager at Changi Airport Group’s Experience Creation team explains, “Music is a key touchpoint through which we are able to better connect with travellers during their journey. The songs in our playlist bring with them a sense of warmth and serenity, keeping in line with Changi’s goal of delivering the best possible experience for everyone.”
