Here's how Changi Airport ensures a smooth and accommodating check-in process for all passengers, including those with special needs:

  • Special Assistance Requests: Passengers with physical disabilities, those using personal mobility aids, or those travelling with service animals should inform their travel agent or airline at the time of booking or at least 48 hours before departure. This advance notice helps ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to assist you throughout your journey.
  • Mobility Support: Changi Airport offers complimentary wheelchair services for use within the airport premises. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be requested through airline services or at information counters located throughout the airport.
  • Priority Services: For passengers with reduced mobility and their companions, priority lanes are available at both immigration and security checkpoints to facilitate a smoother screening process.
  • Service Animals: If you're travelling with a service animal, please check with your airline regarding their policies. At Changi Airport, service animals are welcome, but coordination with your airline is crucial, especially for transit passengers.
  • Porter and Concierge Services: For assistance with luggage, porter services can be booked in advance. Additionally, a Shopping Concierge service is available to help passengers with special needs navigate Changi's extensive retail offerings more comfortably.
  • Accessible Facilities: All terminals at Changi Airport are equipped with accessible amenities, including toilets with grab bars, height-adjustable nursing benches, and adult diaper changing areas.
  • Lanyard Identifier Programme: For passengers with invisible disabilities such as autism, anxiety disorders, or dementia, Changi Airport supports the use of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards.
  • Staff Training and Assistance: Changi’s Care Ambassadors are specially trained to assist passengers with invisible disabilities. They can be identified by their badges and are equipped to provide the necessary support to ensure a smooth and stress-free airport experience.

At Changi Airport, the availability of fast-track or priority check-in options largely depends on the airline with which you are travelling. Many airlines provide priority check-in services for their premium customers, including frequent flyers, business class, and first-class passengers.

Always check with your airline before your travel date to confirm the availability of these options and any specific eligibility criteria or arrangements needed.

At Changi Airport, families of up to four members can utilise the Special Assistance Lanes equipped with automated systems to speed up their passage. These lanes are available in the departure hall of Terminal 1 and both the departure and arrival halls of Terminal 2.

The process is straightforward and user-friendly:

  • Automated Clearance: Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and long-term pass holders can use these lanes to enjoy automated immigration clearance. Simply scan your passports at the designated kiosks.
  • Biometric Verification: The system uses advanced cameras and biometric scanners to capture iris and facial features for verification, ensuring a secure and quick clearance.
  • Assistance for Young Children: Children under six years old may require assistance from ICA officers at these lanes to complete the process.
