Getting to and from the airport
A variety of transport options are available to get to and from Changi Airport.
Public Bus
Most public buses are wheelchair-friendly, and a large majority of the bus stops island-wide are designed for barrier-free access. You can identify wheelchair-accessible buses by the blue wheelchair symbol decal pasted on the windscreens. These buses are equipped with ramps, and one or two wheelchair lots. The bus captains are trained to assist with boarding and alighting procedures.
For the visually-impaired, tactile guidance systems are available at bus interchanges to facilitate your travels. Guide dogs are allowed, as long as they are kept under proper control and held in special harnesses.
Train
All MRT train stations are equipped with barrier-free facilities such as ramps, lifts and wheelchair-accessible toilets for your use. You can identify wheelchair-friendly fare gates and train carriages by the wheelchair indicator stickers.
For the visually-impaired, tactile guidance systems are available at train stations to guide you from the entrance to the platform. Aboard the train, station names and audio instructions for transfers are announced at every station stop. Service animals such as guide dogs are allowed onboard trains and in train stations.
For the hearing-impaired, you can find indications of arrival times and destinations of approaching trains on the Rail Travel Information System (RATIS) located on platforms. While travelling on the North-South and East-West lines, the SMRT Active Route Map Information System (STARis) displays the station of arrival and the side of the train door that will open when it arrives at the station. Train doors are installed with lights that flash red to warn passengers before closing.
Taxi
Foldable wheelchairs can be stored in the boot of the taxi.
For larger wheelchairs, you may opt for a taxi that has wider boot space. Please check with the staff at the taxi stand if larger taxis are available or approach our Ground Transport Concierge at the arrival halls to book one.
There is no surcharge for wheelchairs.
