Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia, the flag carriers of Singapore and Indonesia respectively, are deepening their partnership with increased flight frequencies between Singapore Changi Airport and Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, and an expanded codeshare agreement.

Singapore Airlines will increase its daily services between Jakarta and Singapore from six to eight, starting from 22 November 2024. Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia will expand its daily flights from four to six, effective 1 December 2024. This will further improve the connectivity between Changi Airport and Jakarta, two major economic hubs in Southeast Asia.

Both airlines will expand their existing codeshare arrangement to include these newly announced flights, allowing both airlines to sell seats on each other’s flights. The two airlines are already codesharing flights between Singapore and four Indonesian cities: Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya, as well as flights between Singapore and London (Heathrow) in United Kingdom and Mumbai, India. With the increased flight services between Singapore and Jakarta, the carriers will operate 390 weekly codeshare services, including 362 between Singapore and Indonesia.

For frequent flyers, the news gets even better. Members of KrisFlyer and GarudaMiles – the frequent flyer programmes of Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia respectively – can look forward to earning and redeeming miles on codeshare routes from the first quarter of 2025. So don’t wait to book that 5-day volcanic itinerary around Lake Toba and Medan, 5D4N adventure around Yogyakarta, a family holiday escape to Batam or an off-the-beaten-path diving escapade in Raja Ampat.

Other existing partner airlines for miles redemptions include Star Alliance airlines, Alaska Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Vistara, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.

Singapore Airlines' deepening partnership with Garuda Indonesia follows other recent collaborations announced in June 2024, including its commercial partnership with Riyadh Air and its sustainability collaborations with Cathay Pacific.
